[nagdu] walking in to people

What I have found is Cass will wait until the last minute to make her turn
around someone or a group of people. Sometimes this creates a problem
because the people think she is going to run right into them but she won't.
If someone moves away from their position she will simply make a wider
clearance or she might try to take that space provided between where that
person moved. She has done really well on a fairly crowded path.
I do have problems though downtown on several blocks I have to travel. They
are SO crowded that it is almost impossible for her not to run me into
people. I do not blame her for this, I blame the people for not paying
attention to where they are walking in the first place. I can't even count
how many times we have been run into by others. By the time we get to our
bus stop Cass is very upset thinking she has disappointed me. If there was
another way to get there I would take it but there isn't. I just get down
and praise the heck out of her.
Sometimes other people move just enough to make the dog think that they are
making an opening, but that is no excuse for running you into them,
especially if there was room on the other side. I agree with the others
about setting up some test subjects.

Subject: [nagdu] walking in to people

Hi all,
I am looking for advice. I plan on contacting my trainer tomorrow but
thought I'd run it past you all, and see if any one has had this issue.
Gypsy has started to run me in to people. It has happened quite a few times
now. Just this afternoon, I was walking in our local shopping centre. There
were 2 people talking, just standing there and Gypsy tried to walk in
between the 2 people, and in the process I hit one of them. Stan saw it
happen and said that Gypsy had heaps and heaps of room to go around them.
Anyway, is there anything I can do about this? I cant re work the situation
as the person already moved. If I correct her, would she know why I did it?
Just not sure what to do about it.
Steph
