Tracy,
That is cool that it worked. With people, milk seems to aggreevate a cough, making you cough more.
I'll keep this in mind if I ever need it, thanks for sharing.

Last night around midnight Ben had a coughing fit.  No idea why. 
Swallowed a dust bunny?  Anyway, after a bit, I offered him some water, which helps me when I'm having a coughing fit, but he didn't want it, so I offered him a bit of milk, which he was happy to lap up.  It did seem to help, too.
Just thought I'd say, in case someone sometime needs a simple cough remedy, or to hear other solutions.
