[nagdu] guide dogs at concerts?

I agree with this. Rock concerts are loud and they can be crowded and
intense. I've taken my guides to some concerts, quieter music, country
music, soft rock, that kind of thing. But when I went to see Paul McCartney
in 2002, I left my dog and my friend's dog with puppy raisers for the night.
I was so glad I did. The concert was fantastic, the experience of a
lifetime, but it was crazy loud. And on top of that, the seating was so
crowded, that even a small guide dog would have been stepped on. My right
knee is fused, so that leg doesn't bend, and I had to sit with my leg on my
friend's lap, so it wouldn't hang out over the heads of the people in front
of us. There was no room on the floor for a dog, and people were up,
dancing, screaming, cheering, there were loud explosions during some of the
songs. It was amazing, but too loud and crazy for a dog's comfort or safety.
If you have any doubt, I'd leave my dog home just to be sure.

Sherry

It really depends. How does your dog handle loud noises? If you have taken
your dog to loud places before and not had a problem, then it might be okay.
If you don't know or know that your dog does not like loud noises, I would
recommend leaving your dog home. This last fourth of July, I took Lexia to a
concert, but it was not a roc concert. I do not take Lexia to rock concerts
because she does not like that particular type of noise.
Also, what will the seating be like? If it is going to be really tight with
no extra room, that might be another reason to leave your dog home.

hi all,
i usually go to places with live music at a decent volume for both me and my
guide however, next week there is going to be an awesome celtic rock band
coming here. the concert is only about 3 quarters of a mile from me so i
want to just walk up there.
i have never taken my dog to such a loud place. any suggestions? comments?
hey, if you want to look em up on youtube or anything it's tempest.
i have seen them a couple times before but, did not take my dog as it was at
big festivals.

Vivianna
