[nagdu] guide dogs in urope, and sleeping in?

Danielle,
Yes my pup is trained to alert, perhaps not in the same way that Rox's pup is trained. Mine has more developed alerting tasks by her own instinct. I know that's going to sound strange. I haven't formally trained her to alert, as we are still working on the formal training part of this. My puppy, for example when the smoke alarm goes off, comes and sits down next to me. Then she will usually touch me to let me know that she is there. Again this is not something I have trained her in. But I've seen this on countless occasions. When the door bell rings, she again will come and touch. And just like with Rox's pup, she will then take me to the source of the noise. these are two sounds that my puppy alerts to on a consistent and regular basis. All of the alerting tasks I am still working on. But she is getting better and better every day. I use a similar method to Rox.
