Karyn, If you like Shepherds, my Shaman is a Belgian Tervuren. The long
haired version of the Belgian Malinois.Shaman does not have any digestive
issues, but he does have allergies. His allergies are more environmental
than food based. I do feed him a grain free food. He is a great guide and
very energetic and smart.I swear he has ESP when it comes to traffic. He is
friendly, but he does bark. He doesn't do it in harness, but he will bark at
just about any thing when the harness comes off. He knows what NO BARK
means but he just has to get in several barks before he stops. The Dutch
Shepherd is also a good working dog.The Dutch Shepherd is a rare breed,so
might be some what pricy.I know some one who has a 6 month old Dutch puppy
and he is great. A fast learner and very friendly also. You might be able to
talk a breeder down on price if you tell them that he is going to be
trained as a guide dog. But, I think the smooth coat Collie might just fit
the bill for you,or possibly a Shepherd / Collie cross. Mardi and Shaman
and Neechee.
