I would actually respectfully disagree with this response. It is not required, and they don't need to know in advance. They come up with all kinds of ideas as to what your needs are then. I would just go. Then I would ask about areas appropriate for relieving the dog after getting there.

It's always a good idea to contact the motel prior to arrival so that they know that you have a service animal with young.
