Let me rephrase I can tell when we are walking if someone pets her sometimes but that's only if she indicates it. Sometimes my dog doesn't react. I cannot however, always tell if I'm standing close to 6one talking because of my hearing loss I have to be rather close to friends and family. I will typically periodically put my hand on my dog's head to tell.

It would seem to me that the more experience you have with your dog even without vision you would be able to tell if heis moving his head or able to feel other movements that your dog is making.do you use the handle and a short leash? I did have a friend once purposely sneak pet my dog while we were on a very fmamiliar route at my campus to see if she reacts to it so I would learn her movements and how to deal with it but she didn't react at all so there's probably a lot of sneak petting my dog without me knowing it and if she isn't showing me any sign then I have no idea it's happening.
