Greg, welcome to the list. I know you will get more answers, and I forgot to check if there had been any yet.

This Uber (sp) is serving the public; therefore, they are required to transport you and your dog together. I do not recommend disclosing that I am taking my dog because to do that lets drivers who don’t want to take that dog off the hook. Better it is to argue the point and file complaints. However, one has to do the thing that is most comfortable. I sure feel your pain about having to continually argue this point.

Glad you’ve joined us.

I am currently working with my second guide, a golden retriever named Nikon from the Seeing Eye. I look forward to connecting with other guide dog users and learning from the community.

I have run into enough friction in my area from uneducated cab drivers that I generally try to notify the cab dispatch that I have a service animal when I request a ride so that I don’t have to argue with cab drivers when they arrive. Is there a way to notify the Uber driver ahead of time that I have a service animal? Do others on this list recommend disclosing that I have a dog ahead of time or not? I am open to feedback.
