I think its cool that you want to do other activities like this with your
guide. I'm not sure if you are using a more traditional guide harness or one
with the Y front and belly strap that does not go across their shoulders.

If I were able to run with my dog (I'm in a power wheelchair), I'd want a
harness with a Y design. This will keep the front shoulders completely free
if the harness has a good fit. I like the one I got for Thane when he was
young and growing-- its got 5 points of adjustment and is made by Premier
(people who make the Gentle Leader) There may be other better harnesses with
this concept that are padded in critical areas (my one complaint about the
premier harness) I think I'd also look for a harness where the girth strap
is further back from the front legs much like The Freedom Design mobility
service dog harness is done so that there is less chance of chaffing with
the rapid movements.
You might also be interested in the miniguide I bought one when I lost my
previous dog. It helped me navigate in the transition. It won't tell you
about elevation changes but it can vibrate when your coming up on obstacles.
I'm not sure though if your speed would be such that it might not give you
enough time to react. It may also be awkward in your running form to hold
it, but maybe it would be beneficial. I never would have made it in the
transition period between dogs without mine.
