Hi Tracy,
I was just recently in class at GDB, and I did do a little bit of work while I was there. Answering emails, writing, etc. GDB no longer has night lectures so there was time after dinner to do a little writing and research. However, i don't think doing much more than the most simple of tasks is a good idea. As others have said, going and getting a dog is hard enough without adding work responsibilities into the mix. Suppose you have a challenging walk one day and directly after that have to rush back to your computer to work related matters. it just seems like a lot. Also, building the bond takes a big amount of energy. If you don't give it your all, there could be problems later.
