The first time that I took Lexia to the mall in my home town, she was not
quite sure what to make of the giant stuffed animals outside of the toy
store. One time, when my mom took our pet dog to obedience training at the
pet store, our dog growled at a giant stuffed animal dog.

Monty does this from time to time. Sometimes I can figure out what it is or
I ask around and can put 2 and 2 together later.

Once the city was doing some sort of repairs to the electric poles. There
was no construction sound because the guys were in place in the lift basket
thingy. Monty did not want to walk under them. I think it would have been

okay, but it wasn't a big deal to go another way.

Once the library put up a new statue of a man with a dog. I found that one
immensely amusing! Monty was young then though. Once I knew what the issue
was, I let him approach and see that it was a statue.

another time there were people loading furniture into a truck, blocking up
the sidewalk and most of the yard. I stopped and let Monty get a good look

at the situation before we proceeded. It was along a fairly busy street and
to go another way would have been a major detour. He worked it slow and
cautiously, but did fine.

Monty also seriously hates sprinklers and will strongly suggest detours to
go well around them. I think this might stem from when I broke my foot.
We were going around sprinklers then because I was carrying a bunch of
electronic gadgets. He didn't like sprinklers before, but now he really
balks badly about getting wet when there is no other good choice.

There are times when I have no idea why he wants to go another way. Mostly
I let him, unless there is some really compelling reason not to.

hey, guys,
Looking for some input, if any.

This morning on the way to work (a route we travel frequently), Jenny paused
and then just booked it down a back alley. There was no construction
equipment in the way (none motorized, anyway), dog, person she knows, or any
distraction behaviors (wagging tail, whining, etc.) She just boogied down
that alley. I've never seen her do that.

Any ideas?

Daryl and Jenny
