[nagdu] Comments

I have to agree with Nicole on this one. Because ultimately our dogs are trained to disobey us if it is not safe I think in that way they are taking care of us but we also take care of them and teach them how to take care of us. Who wants a dog that they couldn't trust to guide them safely? Yes, it is annoying when people who don't have a clue say things about them taking care of us but in a way they aren't completely off but I also feel that time permitting it is our responsibility as guide dog users to educate the public about what our dogs do and do not do.

And, no, it is not the fault of the dog if you get lost because you were not paying attention and the dog took you somewhere else.

They just want to say something nice, I guess. But it's just going on my nerves. Well, I'm a very new guide dog owner but already fed up with people's comments. The other day I walked across the train station and a woman said loud and clear: "He takes care of her. Otherwise she wouldn't get along." That was just so annoying. She didn't talk to me but to someone who was with her and I was only walking by so I couldn't really stop and explain how it works. But I have a feeling that most people seem to think blind folks only grab the handle and follow their dogs without doing anything.
