I am not a professional musician by any means but I sing in all of my
schools choirs. My dog lays under my chair or at my feet during
rehearsals and is very quiet while in harness. During the first few
choir practices, he looked up when he heard the soprano I notes but
quickly got used to them. There were only ever two songs he reacted
two (which were sung by another choir). He stood up when he heard them
but quickly settled down when I prompted him to do so. At concerts, he
lays either at my feet, in front of the risers as I stand on the
bottom row, or right next to the risers if I am on an end. Hand
signals can definitely be useful since you can cue your dog without
making noise. If you tell your school what you need in a dog, they
will most likely find a dog that can handle your lifestyle without a
problem.
