Yikes Barry!  Not good. Not being there to see what happened right before 
Jake attacked the pet dog and then the child, hard to tell what's going on. 
Youo are right in not working him and he be in quarentine.

I once knew a woman who had a guide that suddenly started snapping at people 
and it turned out the dog had a brain tumor and was put down.  Very sad.

Very sad that this has happened with your guide.  I woould apply for a new 
dog.  Frankly, you will always have that wondering in the back of your mind 
while out in public if he would suddenly attack someone.

You are in my thoughts.  I can't imagine how horrible this is for you.
