Oh Barry, this is an awful thing! I am so, so sorry! I definitely 
think you should have him checked by your vet.  I have a friend 
who had a dog guide, and her dog began acting very strangely.  
When someone from the school picked him up, the dog almost 
attacked him.  It turned out that she had a brain tumor.  (The 
dog, not my friend).  It could be that something is terribly 
wrong physically with the dog.  You must be heartbroken.    Hugs
