Hi Emily, I just had a thought.  One thing I do sometimes if I 
can work it out is to make sure that we go for a long walk before 
going somewhere where there will be lots of down time.  It 
doesn't always work out, but if I can do that, I try.  Then it's 
not so hard.  But even doing that doesn't always work.  So 
sometimes I will let my dog move a little, and lots of times the
