[nagdu] how often to bathe dog?

I've done a lot of different things over the years.  I used to bathe Belle 
weekly.  she's a short/medium haird dog and tends to smell more than other 
dogs I've had.  I don't bather nearly so much now that she doesn't do 
anything but sleep all day.  I try not to bathe much over the winter months 
so they don't get cold.  the first thing they all want to do after a bath is 
run in the backyard.  I do all my bathing at home btw.

Right now I probably bathe Monty and Jetta every 3 months or so.  I have 
these wipe things that I use sometimes.  also sometimes I wipe them down 
with a wet washcloth in the kitchen.  Monty and Jetta are both very short 
coated dogs with sensitive skin.  If they get bathed too much they will look 
like they rolled in a snow drift.  they are black dogs so it looks 
particularly bad.

Monty will start smelling very doggy if he needs a bath.  Jetta really 
doesn't have much of a dog smell.  She smells sort of earthy.  I don't know 
how to describe it.  It's not an unpleasant odor and I'm not the only one to 
have noticed she smells different.  She's super into staying clean though! 
She doesn't like to get her feet wet or muddy.  she won't walk in puddles or 
snow drifts.  She's a bit of a princess!
