[nagdu] guide dog and parents issue

Agree with Larry and Debby here; she is your dog, full stop.
It may come down to your simply sitting down with them and telling them that Molly is not a pet, but your eyes in every sense of the word; if you decide that you do not wish her to be off-leash in the yard, then she will NOT be off-leash in the yard. If they cannot respect this, then that is a whole other issue.

I think part of the problem is the thought that she is a dog first, a guide second. I am not always for doing everything your school tells you, but as you are a brand new handler and Molly is a young inexperienced guide, you haven't figured out yet what works and what doesn't, or what methods you would like to keep and what you would like to change. This comes with time, experience, struggles and success. But as you are responsible for yourself and your dog, the buck stops with you, and IMHO if your parents can't respect the decisions you made, you may need to tell them that their attitude may result in less frequent visits...

First, do they have a fence? If so, you could do this. If not, sence she is
a new dog, I wouldn't. You haven't had her long enough so that she has
learned your house rules yet.
