I'll admit though, having had a dog that is a food-grabber, I can't always
tell until it's too late that the dog was trying to get the food at his
level.--smile.
Could that have been the case with your friend?

Sometimes dogs are sneaky.

I must say though Larry, I have only known one person that I was absolutely
sure was abusing their dog, and I know a lot of folks with dogs. Far from
abusing dogs, I have seen more people who do not have their dogs under
control, and the dogs misbehave. One person told me once, I know I need to
not let my dog do such-and-such, but I just love spoiling my dog. So his
dog was a total brat, even grabbing food off of plates of folks in
wheelchairs, because the food was on their level. The person in
the wheelchair was going through the cafeteria to get to a table.
