Hi all,
Gipp and I are back from vacation. On Wednesday July 22nd through Sunday July 26th Gipp and I , Pam and Nicholas and Linda Decarlo we all went on vacation to Chautauqua Lake New York. We had absolutely beautiful weatherthe entire trip with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the 80's and we had a great time. It couldn't of got any better than that.
We stayed in a cabin/chalet surrounded by woods. I'll try to describe what the cabin/chalet looked like. When we went into the cabin we had 2 steps to go up and then we turned to the left where the front door is and had one step up to enter into the cabin. Once inside the cabin we were in the living room area which had a fireplace , TV, 2 leather couches The kitchen was to our right when we walked into the cabin through the front door. We had a stove, refrigerator , microwave, 2 sinks and a kitchen table. In between the living room area and the kitchen there was a short hallway which went straight back into the one bedroom area . In the bedroom consist of a large king size bed with a night stand with a lamp on it and on the other side of the night stand was another twin size bed. Off to the right of the twin size bed was a long dresser with a mirror . Also off on the right of the bedroom was the bathroom. which consist of a bathroom sink and next to the sink was the toilet and on the other side of the toilet was an apartment size washer and drier. Next to the washer and drier was a wall with a window. Across from the washer and drier was a closet to put our things in. and next to the closet there was a wall where you could hang your towels or bathmat at and on the other side of this wall across from the bathroom sink was the shower stall. There was no tub. Also in the bedroom there were 2 good size closets and there also was a wicker chair in the one corner with 2 windows.
Off the kitchen and bedroom areas were 2 side doors that both lead out to the large deck. The deck was the entire length of the kitchen and bedroom area. The deck was enclosed with wooden railing all around the deck and the deck had a roof. On the deck was a picnic table lots of chairs to sit in and it also had a hammock we could lay in if we wanted. We sat out on the deck every night just relaxing and talking. When we sat out on the deck we were looking straight into the woods surrounded by lots and lots of trees. It was nice and quiet to sit out on the deck listening to the crickets and the quiet.
On Wednesday after we arrived at the cabin/chalet and got are things inside, then we went to a near by town to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things that we needed for the cabin.
On Thursday evening we took a dinner cruise on the boat on Chauctaugua Lake. The cruise was a Jimmie Buffit cruise. Both Nicholas and Gipp did great on the boat laying quietly under our table. The cruise lasted 2 and a half hours. There was some guy on the boat that sang some of Jimmie Buffit's music but it wasn't all Jimmie Buffit music. I myself didn't care much for the food that was served but I did enjoy the cruise though.
On Friday afternoon we went to an outdoor craft show. We enjoyed looking around at all the different booths or tables selling their products. I bought 2 shirts one was a tie dye t-shirt and the other shirt was a light blue shirt with short sleeves and on the front of the shirt it had little sparkly beeds on it that sparkled when the sun hit it. Both dogs did great guidework. I think we were at the craft show for a couple of hours I also bought some bracelets at this craft show.
On Saturday afternoon we went to Jamestown which is the birthplace of Lucille Ball. Anyhow, we went on a riverwalk tour with the historic society and are tour guide explained the history of Jamestown and the different buildings around in the area of Jamestown. I believe the riverwalk tour was about a mile and a half. Both Nicholas and Gipp got some good walking in and I took lots of pictures with my iPhone camera. I really enjoyed taking the pictures of different things we did throughout our vacation. We walked from the historic Society through Jamestown for the river walk tour of Jamestown and we had to walk back to the historical Society building where our car was. But before walking back to our car at the historical society building parking lot we stopped at Friendly's Restaurant to have a bite to eat. Both dogs laid under our table booth and were quiet and I know Gipp went to sleep. The food at Friendly's restaurant was good. I had one of their salads with a orange milk shake. It was really good.
After we ate we walked back to the historical society where our car was.
Saturday evening we went to a restaurant called the Consino it's located down on the Chautauqua Lake . We sat outside on there patio which looked out onto the Chautauqua Lake. The view was absolutely beautiful looking out on the lake with a beautiful sunset. I got some beautiful pictures of the lake and the sun setting. The food at the consino was really good.
After we had dinner at the Consino restaurant we went back to the cabin and sat outside on the deck.
On Sunday morning we all got up and fixed and had breakfast and then finished packing up to travel back to Ohio to Linda's house where Rick picked Gipp and I up. But before we left Chautauqua Lake New York, we stopped at another craft show which also was held outside. We were there about an hour and I bought a few more bracelets. Pam also bought a few more things I think.
After we left the craft show we went and turned in our key to the cabin and then we headed for Ohio. We arrived back at Linda's house a little after 5;30 pm. We all had a wonderful time on vacation.
I was so proud of Gipp . He's a great traveler and I was so proud of him in the way he worked and guided me. Take care.
Also when Rick came to pick Gipp and I up at Linda's house Rick had a new van. We now have a 2010 Dodge Grand Care
van. It's silver in color . It rides great. We now have a dependable vehicle we can depend on. Take care.
