This is not just characteristic of Labs. I think, though I'm sure someone
will correct me haha, that dogs want to get the mess up. It's GROSS!

Lisa,
Speaking of dog vomit...
Yesterday, I was on the phone and I saw that Mambo was eating something off
the floor. I have dark carpeting, so I could tell it was something white.
Well, he will occasionally get tissues out of the garbage, so I thought it
was just a tissue. So, I reached down to grab it away from him, except it
was all chunky and slimy. Ewww, I had just stuck my hand in puke! Luckily, I
was on the phone with another guide dog handler, so I told her that I would
have to call her back since my dog had just puked. Luckily, my dogs don't
get sick often, but when they do, that's one of the most fun things about
being a guide dog handler, NOT, LOL!
Deanna and Mambo

Hi Daryl,

you better not quote me but sum it up using better English than I do but
what I never learnt at guide dog school was:

How to understand the signs of a dog getting sick just in time to bring him
to an area without carpet or blankets on the floor, How to find the right
moment between letting the dog finish throwing up and preventing him from
eating what he just produced and how to find out what caused the sickness by
examining what he had eaten while cleaning it up.

Well, this is an extremely disgusting topic so you might not want to mention
it in your post and I would understand that. :-)

take care,

Lisa
