Sandra,
Thanks. That was along the lines of what I was thinking. The Omega 3s are quite potent, so I will likely only need to give one 1800mg capsule every day and see how it goes. Thankfully her ears appear to be more affected by the crazy pressure changes here, and generally itchy outside but not inside. Hubby and I check her ears daily, and there hasn't been anything in there for quite some time.

Let me know if your vet has some suggestions!

When I started them with Eva I was told to give it at least a month to see if it would help. It sounds like you are already feeding her a good food. Also, if you don't give the Omega 3s a chance to work, then you'll never know if it was the Omega 3s or the new food that worked. My vet recommends changing one thing at a time so ;you know what worked and what didn't. I don't think you have to panic and go as extreme as considering the raw diet. That is much too expensive and too inconvenient for most people. There are plenty of good commercial foods available that are suitable for dogs with allergies. I am going through the same thing with Eva. I have been giving her an Omega 3 capsule every day for the past year and have just increased it to two capsules for the summer to see if it helps. I changed her to a grain free dry food last summer. She's had yeast infections in both ears again. She is also very itchy. My vet suggested using an antihistamine. Eva goes back tomorrow to have her hears checked again after being on ear drops for two weeks. I'll let you know if my vet has any other suggestions that might help our allergic itchy pups. Been doing a bit of research, and I think Jenny might have a yeast infection either on top of or because of her seasonal allergies. When she's sleeping she releases a rather pungent odor not unlike old corn chips, and she is INTENSELY itchy. I'm not convinced she's allergic to the food itself, since rain/snow/wetter weather makes her much less itchy, but she is still itchy... I have her started on Omega 3 supplements (like, today), so it's too early to tell if that's helping yet. Her current food is grain-free, but I was wondering if anyone uses limited-ingredient diets? I'm not in a position to feed exclusively raw at this point, but am open to suggestions. She's been on Petcurean Go! Fit?, and has done well on it since I switched her over in July. We're running low on her current bag and were going to make a run to the store on Monday. So do you think I should keep her on her current food and see if the Omega 3s fix the problem? Or switch food now? Thoughts? _______________________________________________ nagdu mailing list nagdu at nfbnet.org http://nfbnet.org/mailman/listinfo/nagdu_nfbnet.org To unsubscribe, change your list options or get your account info for nagdu: http://nfbnet.org/mailman/options/nagdu_nfbnet.org/sljohnson25%40comcast.net _______________________________________________ nagdu mailing list nagdu at nfbnet.org http://nfbnet.org/mailman/listinfo/nagdu_nfbnet.org To unsubscribe, change your list options or get your account info for nagdu: http://nfbnet.org/mailman/options/nagdu_nfbnet.org/crazymusician%40shaw.ca
