[nagdu] using a tie down

It might help with the barking, too, by preventing Jetta from looking at
the things she wants to bark at. Our dogs like to lie on the bed and
bark at what they see out the bedroom windows. It's okay with me, within
limits. When they get out of hand and don't quiet down when I tell them
to, I just pull down the window shades so they can't see out. seems they
would rather see and not bark than to not see what they want to bark at.

Loki is getting better at getting a grip on himself, but when he's
pushing it, I have him go to his crate for a bit. So he will bark just
past the acceptable threshhold, then go to his crate before I mention
it. Mitzi used to do that sort of thing, too -- get in trouble, then put
herself on restriction. Poodles! /lol/ I'm not sure if the crate time is
causing Loki to consider if excessive barking is worth it or if he's
just growing up some finally. I just know that since I started being
consistent with the window shade trick, our dogs will control themselves
on those days when the neighborhood is being invaded by aliens or
whatever it is that makes every dog in earshot go totally gonzo. Who knew?
