Hi Sherry:

How lucky you are to know someone who makes nice leather collars and 
leashes.  I would love to find a half-check in leather.  I just don't like 
the look of the nylon.  I'd like the collar to be leather to match the leash 
and harness.  My golden Eva was sent home with a typical chain slip collar. 
As I've done with all my dogs, I changed her collar to a fur-saver collar. 
For those who don't know, a fur-saver collar is one with long  links that do 
not allow the fur to be caught in the chain.  I hate to see dogs with their 
fur chopped shorter around the neck because of some chain collars.  Also, my 
fur-saver collars are stainless steel.  Sometimes the chrome collars make a 
dirty looking ring around the dog's neck on light blonde dogs.

My name is Sherry, and I have a female golden retriever named Petunia, from
guide dogs for the blind, GDB. GDB issues nylon martingale collars. I think
that's what you call a half check. They are the quick release style. I don't
use that collar though I know a puppy raiser who makes beautiful leather
leashes and collars and I have that. It bucks on but is a half check style.

hi everyone. I am just curious as to what sort of collars u get from your
schools for your dogs? here in ireland we get a half check collar and also a
play collar which is just a nylon collar with a bell attached for when the
dog is having a run in the park or whatever. for those of u that use the
half checks do u leave them on the dog all the time? also which type of half
check do u use the 1 that slips over the head or the 1 with the quick
release clip? here we r given the type that slip over tha head. thanks :)
