[nagdu] Introducing myself

Hi Milissa:

Welcome to the list and I am also new to the list I joined about ten days
ago.

My name is Louise and I am working my fifth guide dog and all from GDB and I
live in Surrey BC Canada. I have light and some shadow vision and it will go
some day and it does scare me as yesterday was my 49 birthday and the
thought of losing the last light does scare me but I enjoy working with my
guide dog that I have now.

Kiara is a small black lab and we have been together about 4 and 1/2 months.
I have had more vision and it has slowly gone and I do know when it goes
fully I will just adjust to it.

I am married and have three sons and the youngest is 17 years old.

Looking forward to getting to know you and others hear well.

Hello Everyone,

I have been on this list for about a month and I thought I would finally
introduce myself. 

I am from the Boston Massachusetts area. I am currently working my fourth
guide dog, a female yellow lab named Lexi. She and all of my other dogs have
been from Guiding Eyes for the Blind in New York. Although I love having a
guide dog, I also keep up my cane skills. You never know when you'll have to
use a cane.

In addition to being totally blind, I have  a pretty significant hearing
loss. With the correction of two hearing aids, I am able to hear well.
However, I have great difficulty with sound location. This makes it a
challenge to cross busy and complicated intersections. Sometimes crossing
streets means asking for assistance for me. However, I am very independent
and love to travel with Lexi all around Boston using the subway and other
means of public transportation. 

I have had Lexi for three years and I just love working with her. She has a
phenomenal work ethic and most importantly, she loves working in the busy
city.
