Welcome to the list Wayne. Mardi here from Arizona.I too am an owner
trainer. I chose to owner train out of necessity.There are also quite a few
owner trainers on this list. I have great respect for Guide Dog
schools,even though I have never attended one. There were no schools that
trained guides for wheelchair users when I needed a guide. And,now those
that did train for a while have discontinued their wheelchair training.So I
guess I will continue to train my own. I have trained all 4 of my guides. 3
Siberian Huskies and 1 Belgian Shepherd. I am embarking on # 5 now. I have
just purchased a female Dutch Shepherd puppy. I have also trained for
several other people,but I am now 69 years young and have chosen to just
continue with my own.
I enjoy training. I have learned a lot from people on this list and enjoy
reading it. I think you will enjoy it and maybe can contribute something
that others can learn from. Where are you located?What kind of harness are
you using? I make my own harnesses.I am currently using a white Swiss style
harness on Neechee.    Mardi and Shaman,retired and Neechee.
