[NAGDU] re teeth cleaning

Hi David:

bogart is a poodle and poodles (and sometimes their crosses) are more prone to tartar build up. So I am concerned since gum disease can lead to other more serious issues  such as infections and heart disease (just like in humans) but I also don't really want to sedate Bogart. 

I will probably try this non-sedation teeth cleaning method and see how he does with it.

Part of me thinks getting a base line blood test done since Bogart is 7.5 might not be a bad idea in case anything changes with his health in the future. Bogart had a issue two weeks after I came home from the school and I just got that emergency clinic to send me his blood work from then so I now have  a base line of 2 year old Bogart.

Does anyone think there is value in such a blood test ($200) or is it just throwing money away and not worry about such a test until something goes wrong with Bogart (knock on wood it doesn't).

If your dog is a lab or golden, get another vet. Because of their 
chewing habits, Labs and Goldens rarely need to ever have their cleaned, 
unless there is something else wrong with them.
