[NAGDU] Be careful of rabit dung

Hi Seeing Eye and Nagdu listers alike!

YAHTZEE and I just got back from the vet. This past Sunday, I thought I had the basement door closed while I was dragging my laundry downstairs for washing. Unfortunately, this was not the case. My wife and I still have not gotten the cat food issue from last year resolved, though I have found that I need to keep Yahtzee contained either with me or in the bedroom for other reasons. I participated in the ACVO program last year, and the vet who looked him over told me that as long as he is getting ample exercise and stimulation during the normal course of a day keeping him contained is not harmful. Even when I keep the cat food out of his reach, it seems that he inevitably finds trouble after a few minutes of being loose, even if there is seemingly no real trouble for him to get into. I have compared notes with other users who have had dogs with similar issues.
My wife and I will be moving to a new home relatively soon, and I will insist after we do so that I can let Yahtzee loose more of the time. In fact, the house we currently have our eyes on has a huge fenced-in yard. A good opportunity for frisby and ball when the weather is nice.

Anyway, Yahtzee did his old familiar escape and ran upstairs and raided the actual container of cat food-not just the bowl. I won't go into too many details, but his stomach was extremely loose for the past couple days. I thought I remember seeing on one of these lists that consumption of cat food can potentially cause kidney failure in dogs. I had to take him to the vet today amid the snow and blustery cold. It turns out that cat food was not the only issue. Sometimes, when we are walking outside, he has grabbed stuff off the ground before I even know what is happening. Apparently, the vet discovered that he has been eating rabbit feces. I have heard we have rabbits around here, but did not think they were out and about in the cold. I guess Yahtzee is going to have a gentle leader on him more of the time while we are out, whether he likes it or not. I was just wondering if anybody else has ever had an issue with their dog getting a hold of rabbit dung?

Hope all in effected northern states are staying warm!
