[NAGDU] the new vacuum

So I did order the Dyson pet vacuum. It arrived yesterday and my husband put it together while I was out of town. So no clue how difficult that process was.

I used the vacuum briefly last night and for an extended session this morning. I’m not sure if I’m amazed or horrified by what has come out of the carpet. It does a better job than any vacuum I’ve had before that’s for sure.

The vacuum is easy to push around. It took me a little while to get used to how easily it maneuvers. Before I relied on the vacuum only being able to be pushed in a straight line to help me keep oriented in the room and to make sure I was getting the whole carpet covered. Now I sort of do little sections and don’t necessarily keep to the straight lines I’m used to.

It is a bit narrower than my previous vacuums, so it goes into little places like under the end table, without any problem. That’s nice. There is also a button that will disengage the brush to make it super easy to do non carpet floors or the rugs in front of the doors.

I’m not fond of the placement of the power button. I wish you could push it with your thumb while pushing the vacuum, but the power button is down a bit on the handle. It’s a small thing though.

The hose attachment is in the handle. I haven’t used it yet so not sure how that works exactly. I do like that it’s all one unit without having to store a bunch of attachment pieces in the closet and hunting for them when I need them.

There are no bags, which is super nice. I have no idea what people were talking about in the Amazon reviews with the difficulty in emptying the canister. It took me all of 5 seconds to figure it out. I have not taken it apart to clean the filter screens, so perhaps that’s what the reviews were referring to.

It’s lightweight and easy to move around from room to room or up and down the stairs. It is all plastic though. That helps with the weight, but not sure about the longevity.

I purchased the corded model, not the rechargeable. The cord is quite long. I can do the whole house without needing to switch plug ins. You do not need to hold the power button down like with the rechargeable model.

It does a great job pulling hair out of the carpet, which is the whole reason I got this vacuum. I am seriously speechless over how much stuff has come out of the carpet. I mean new vacuums always pull extra stuff up, but this is beyond anything I had expected or even thought possible.
