[NAGDU] Getting a new guide

Hi Raul.
Good luck with your application. I'm sure all will go well.

The dogs should meet on neutral ground. I usually introduce them in the
driveway or close by. I'm sure you'll have a lecture all about it, near
the time you get ready to come home with your new partner.

For the first month or so, I'd concentrate on your dog and only feed or
relieve the other dog in case of emergency. The first few weeks, New Dog
is getting used to the idea that all good things come from you, and you
want that to be a strong idea. After that, you can gradually do more for
the other dog, or let your grilfriend occasionally relieve your dog.

Keep firmly in mind that your new dog will not be like your old dog. You
remember the great team you were, but you've probably forgotten the
process it took to get there. I always do, to some degree. I think it's
like how they say women forget how bad labor was, when they've got that
beautiful new baby.
The first 6-24 months of breaking in a new dog can be a hell of a lot of
work. Be ready; be patient; be fair. Easy to say, not always easy to do.
Good luck.
