Jen,

	I completely understand how difficult this time might be. I made
this same decision for my last two guides and, even though I knew it was the
right and best thing to do, that didn't make it any easier to say "good-bye!
My lab, Diamond, had the same issue as Nixon. I knew he was unhappy and felt
very undignified when I would find him lying on his bed in his own feces
because he didn't have the strength to go out. Even now, it brings tears to
my eyes thinking about that since he was a very strong, faithful, and poised
dog. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

I know I hardly ever write, but I do read messages on here and learn from
folks . but some of you know me from years of various email lists may like
to know this news but some of you will already know if you are FB friends
with me.

 

Nixon will earn his angel wings on May 27th at 3:30. He will be cremated so
I can keep him close to my heart "fur"ever. I took the afternoon off so I'll
spend the last quality time with him before he's free. He will go on his
last camping trip this weekend. 

We got the sign after he couldn't get up and relieving all over himself.
It's time... He lived 13 wonderful years of his life. 7 years of working at
my side and 4 years of wonderful retirement.

(BTW: He went on his last camping trip with my parents this past weekend and
he did look tired after all the walking. He looked pretty tired from it
all..)
