[NAGDU] Amusement Parks: Whether or Not to Leave Guide Dog at Home

I think it would be perfectly fine for your mom to feed your dog on that
day. You are pretty well bonded, and there is no point asking her to wait
for her evening meal as well. One meal is not going to mess with the bond.

Home

Thank you, Jody. I am thinking that I will do that, as my mom is extremely
trustworthy. This brings me to another question: Demi would be left for
probably about 10 hours altogether. I could plan her meals so that my mom
would not be feeding her, but because of the time of day when this event
will take place, her meals would be at very different times than usual. As
we all know, it is a very bad idea to allow others to feed our guides unless
absolutely necessary, and I don't like the idea of my mom feeding her for
me, especially since I have only had Demi for under six months. Which would
be worse, in your opinions: Allowing my mother to feed my dog her evening
meal on that day or having Demi wait for her dinner until possibly 9 or 10
PM? I want to do what is best for my dog, and if going to this event so soon
after getting her could jeopardize our bond, I will decline.

the animal shows because she has been to fair and proven to be very solid
around different animals; my biggest concern is what to do about the rides.
Would it be best to leave her at home? It is such a long time to leave her,
but my mother said that she would check on her and relieve her if I decide
to leave my dog home. I still don't know if I like the idea, and I am
wondering what y'all have done in similar situations. Have any of you taken
a guide to an amusement park? If so, what have you done with them when going
on rides and such?
