[NAGDU] International travel with a guidedog

Nothing was wrong with the question, I think she'd
just get a better handle on what to expect with a few more questions.
She as well as anybody is free to ask a question, and we are all free to
respond to that question. Support doesn't always equal touchy feely answers.

Rebecca, I would ask that you check out Miranda's message. She is asking
people's experiences traveling over seas. She doesn't have a dog yet. Her
husband may not be able to be gone for three months. I think she asked the
question just fine.

I didn't realize you had had the baby. How old is it now, and that was off
topic.

You know yourself. Will the required paperwork and
vaccines bother you? Will access laws or the lack thereof bother you?
Will your husband really look after the dog and why or why not? Anybody can
say they will do something before it actually happens. Look at all the
comedy routines involving getting up with the kids, being nice to the
mother-in-law, and so on. What will you do if your husband wants to travel
with you or go someplace else? I know I'd not be happy staying home while my
husband traveled, it can be way too easy to feel like the household drudge
which isn't good for anybody. Will you really want to leave your dog? You
may think you do, only to change your mind. My husband and I had concert
tickets last weekend. We both thought we'd be ready to leave our baby to see
the show, only to find out we weren't. This isn't our first kid, so we are
hardly new parents either. All this is to say, you can plan anything, and
you can think you'll do anything, and your husband can do likewise, only to
have it not go as you expected.
To my mind, the length of your stay doesn't make a lot of difference. You
have all the work to get ready, you are just ththere a different length of
time. I'd rephrase your question, ask what people's experiences are with the
countries you are interested in, then decide based on how you are, what you
want to do. The guide dog schools will always be around.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Can you share a bit more about your
experience and why you feel that waiting is the best option? I'm certainly
not disagreeing with you. I'm just curious as to why you feel this way.
Thanks, and have a wonderful week!

Best wishes, Miranda
