Cindy, The thinking now is to wait until the growth plates are fully formed, so just about age two. But Vivianna might not have a choice as breeders are weird characters and may demand early spade as part of the contract.

Remember in the bad old days, schools were spade and neuter pups at three months. They learned this is not good practice, but should only be done in very extreme cases. I knew a puppy raiser who asked to have her little male labby neutered as he was making a mess in her home.

I put that article about the growth plates on this list maybe last year. It should be in the archives.

No, six months usually is when they can spay.

Congratulations, Vivianna.  What will you call her?  Are you sticking with the name NTG?
I thought pups should be a year old before they're spayed?

Well, i thought and thought.  I talked and talked.
and, i decided to go with NTG.  no tail girl.
I really liked the boy but, i am afraid he will just be to big.  his paws, at 5 months old, are twice the size of my 90 pound german shepherd and, the stance of those dogs is very wide.  i was afraid that he wouldn’t even be physically able to lay down on the back seat floor of an uber.  lol.
she will be spayed next week and come home when she can be taken out of the cone.  poor girlie.
the breeder thinks that she will be over 525 inches when she grows up and, that’s one big girl dog.  
so, now it’s time to buy puppy chew stuff and comfortable beds.  lol.
