[NAGDU] tip?

For me it would depend on what hotel staff person was assisting me. If it
was a bellhop, then a tip would be in order. Their role and presumably
wages are supplemented by tips, like a waitress. If it was someone from
grounds keeping or maintenance, then I don't think I'd tip at all. They
don't typically get tips and are presumably being paid a full hourly wage
not dependent on tips.

I'd also factor in the level of service and the time needed. If the help
was a uninterested list of vague verbal directions, then little or no tip.
If the person was courteous, actually helpful and personally accompanied me,
answering questions, then perhaps $2 to $5. Where you are in the country
also matters. Here, in the sticks, $2 would be a decent tip for something
like this. In large cities it would likely be a tad insulting and the $5
would be more appropriate.

Of course all this is just my .02 and the truth is that I am cheap and would
probably wander around until I figured it out. I also carry my own bags and
get my own taxi to avoid tipping hotel bellhops.

I think this might be an inappropriate question for her. We all have a
different level of confidence and memory skill. We don'tt know how they
work. She may only need one shot at assistance; maybe she's never done this
at all before and doesn't know how much help she will need. The question was
how much do you tip. Let's answer that question and not begin judging
assistance she may or may not need please.

Hi there
I just saw this post now, so I must be coming in at the end of the thread,
but my question is whey do you need assistance several times from the front
desk, to show you where to relief your guide? Sorry for my bluntness but I
thought once would be enough for this happen. Yes as I said, maybe I am
coming in at the end of this thread and it has been asked all ready. Myself
I don’t understand this question, and I hope people don’t think that I am
rude in asking this question, I am just curious person.
cheers
