[NAGDU] working with consumers in their private homes

Why is Rox different? I have 2 children and one due any time. I wouldn't allow a professional of any sort to bring their kids of any age to my house while they are there to work. It's unprofessional, and unnecessairy. The professional no matter their line of work would not be providing me the quality of service I'm paying them for if their children were present.
I can also see why someone wouldn't want a guide dog (or any dog in their house) everybody tells you their dog is clean well behaved, whatever, and most are. Still, it's my house, my rules and I'd have to deal with any problems that arose.

Well, Rox, of course if you are doing your own business, you can be more selective than someone who has another boss can. Also, I think you have special circumstances. You have a hearing loss, too, don't you?It is just another one of those things, I think, that requires you to do the thing that, in the end, is going to work best for you and all concerned, including your dog. I can't remember what you do, but have you run into situations such as Marsha described?

Hi Raul,
I'm in a similar situation as you. You have no rights in other people's homes. As an example, I don't allow small children in mine. This is my right. I don't have to justify it, and if I had someone coming to do work in my home who wanted to bring their small child, I'd find another person to do the work.
If a client does not want my dog in their home, i'm happy to put them in touch with someone else.
Other people will leave their dogs home when training in these situations. It's a personal call and everyone's different

As for my question, due to the nature of the work that I do, I travel frequently to the private homes of consumers I work with. What are my rights and the rights of the customers in a situation such as this? For example, if we were to meet in a public place, such as a library or place of work, there is no issue. However, if the customer doesn't want a dog, guide or otherwise in their home, what is a solution? I'm certainly no attorney, but my initial guess would be that the person has the right to refuse a guide dog in their own private home regardless of whether it's for training purposes or a personal visit. However, I also would like to get some positive discussion going here when it comes to this situation, which i know will come up.
