[NAGDU] Help for Separation Anxiety in Retired Guide Dog

Hi, Everyone.
Peg is 14 now. In December, I was away for three weeks, and she stayed
back with my husband. He says she was grouchy and depressed while I
was gone.

Yesterday she had surgery to have a cyst on her back removed. She's on
antibiotics and Tramadol. It was a same day thing, so she went in in
the morning and came home last night.

She's going through some sort of separation anxiety now, which wasn't
happening while I was gone in December. When I leave the apartment,
she howls and makes a fuss. She's not left alone; David is there, and
music is on.

How do we deal with what I think is separation anxiety? There will be
times when we'll both need to leave her on her own, and it's tough
enough now with her putting up a fuss with just me gone for even short
bouts, not even ten minutes.
