[NAGDU] Dog guide-specific vet questions

Hi Miranda.
I can't think of any guide dog-specific questions for a vet. It's my
observation that vets are not generally used to working dogs, rather than
the usual couch potato, but questions like "How might this medication or
condition affect my dog's work?" will remind them. It's also my observation
that guide dog users are usually much more tuned in to our dog's health than
most people, because we're with them all the time. We might notice that
Juno is not her usual chipper self, but the vet won't be able to find what's
wrong. Frustrating.
I prefer a vet, or a doctor, who takes the time to explain things to me, and
doesn't patronize me.
My dog's regular vet has moved on and left the practice we use, so I'll have
to pick out a new regular vet. Ugh.

Subject: [NAGDU] Dog guide-specific vet questions

Hi everyone,
As I reach out to veterinarians in our local area, I am wondering if there
are any specific questions I should ask in addition to any offered discounts
that the vets may offer for service animals. We have a pet cat, but we have
not had a need to take him to the vet since we moved here. So, beyond the
possible service animal discounts and any other general questions you would
ask any vet, is there anything I am missing?
Thanks as always for your time and assistance, and have a wonderful week!

Best wishes, Miranda
