[NAGDU] Criminal background check

I guess we will have to see. In some minds yes it would. I don't know. I
have bigger problems with crime in my life right now than that, and I can't
say. I doubt I would be concerned. Also, it might make a difference as to
what this was you had done. But we have to have criminal background checks
to teach, to volunteer in the BELL Academy, or at least here, to volunteer
at the Iowa Dept. for the Blind, to have access to the records of hospitals
if we are pastors. I am concerned that a program would do this actually and
was rather surprised that they do. I've also heard horror stories of how
people have treated their animals whether service animals or pets. I'm just
saying that if they maintain ownership of their dogs then I could see why
they might do this to protect their property. This doesn't mean at all that
I am in favor.

*Hello Cindy,
I plead guilty to a misdemeanor in 1990 ( 27 years ago ). Does that make me
a criminal? In your eyes, does that disqualify me from eligibility to own,
and successfully work with a Guide Dog, something I've been doing for
seventeen years?
Or, can I not put that event in my past behind me? What about others that
have had things in their past that they've moved on from?
Food for thought....
