[NAGDU] International travel

Hi Mike.
The rabies titer is no longer required, thank Goodness.
A tapeworm treatment is required within 5 days of travel, but it can be done
after the USDA has signed off on the paperwork.
So you're saying that my vet can indeed see Krokus a couple weeks before we
go, and then I can submit the paperwork to the USDA within the 10 day limit?
Tracy

Hi Tracy,

The information is right as far as it goes. Have you given your dog a rabies
titer test? Unless something has changed Ireland is a "rabies free country"
like the rest of Great Britain. A titer test must be given at least, I
believe, six months in advance of travel.

Regs may have changed and perhaps someone else on this list has more updated
information, you should check this out.

Best Regards,

Michael Hingson

I'm going to Ireland in August. My contact at the animal ministry there
says my vet can do the paperwork for Krokus any time; it just has to be
stamped and approved by the USDA within 10 days of travel.

Am I understanding that right? It would be much more convenient if I could
see the vet, say, within 2 weeks of travel, rather than having the mad
scramble to fit everything into the 10 days before we go.

Tracy
