[NAGDU] Parker is a careful boy

Hello wonderful two-legged and four-legged friends. Dan and the Parker 
Dog here.

I figured I'd post a story from yesterday which proves that yes, our 
dogs are paying attention and we're so glad they do--smile


All right, picture the scene, Dan, the big lug, and Parker, the little 
lug walking back from Dunkin donuts. To do this I go through a parking 
lot, a shopping center, and then cross a service road to an apartment 
complex, walk through that then follow a shoulder until I turn and cross 
home. Anyway, when the sidewalk for the shopping center ends, I step off 
and turn to the left to follow a service road before the apartment 
complex. I listened for cars, "Parker, forwarrd", nothing. "Parker, 
forward," very hesitant step on the part of my hound. Then a gentleman 
standing there, says "be careful there's a ladder right in front of you, 
they're fixing the wall'. All right, i really wouldn't have known, I 
gently asked Parker again and he took me around it, I said "good boy" 
very enthusiastically and the guy in front of the ladder said "Damn 
that's a great dog". So that made me feel good, and reminded me that, 
the environment can change and even in a very familiar place, a route 
I've walked probably one hundred or more times--lol still things are 
there and that's why we're glad our dogs are paying attention, now we 
just have to remember to pay attention to them.
