[NAGDU] weird guide dog habit

Hi! I'd love to get some advice.  A couple of days ago, my dog 
started this weird habit of stopping to sniff every single sign 
on the way to the bus stop.  He's never done this before.  He 
responds very easily to "hop-up", but it's getting a little 
irritating to have to "hop-up" at every sign.  Is there a 
strategy I can use to get him to leave the signs alone, or a 
theory as to why he's so into them all of a sudden?
