[NAGDU] Churches and service dogs

Hello:

When I was a soloist and choir member of a church that did recordings and
live broadcasts I had a collar for my dog that did not have any tags on it.
It is the rattling that can be picked up by sensitive microphones especially
for someone on the stage or choir loft. I found that a nylon slip collar
worked the best for these situations. If your harness rattles too much just
wrap tape around the clips during the service and then it can be easily
removed afterwards. I was luck that my dog was from Seeing Eye and in those
days they had leather clip covers that made her harness very quiet. With
that and her nylon collar she was not heard at all even during Christmas and
Easter when we had several choir processions during the services. When I
would move forward to where the soloists stood you could not hear her over
the microphones. I also kept her nails clipped very short so those could
not be heard on the marble floors. I worked her with hand signals so verbal
commands would not be picked up by the microphones.

Hi.

The current policy is that service dogs are welcome everywhere, except
events that are being recorded and/or broadcast, and in the temple. Since
the vast majority of Church meetings are not recorded or broadcast, the only
restriction that is likely to regularly impact members is the restrictions
on the temple.
