Hello.
If you don't speak the language of the country you're visitting, GPS and
pone will be definitely helpful. If you do, it is okay to relie on
structured Discovery techniques.
I suggest you check with your carrier the cost of international roaming in
your destination. Some plans today have it included and some others could
offer it to you at a cheap prize.

This is more of a mobility-type question. Have people travelling
internationally found it worthwhile to have phone service, so as to have GPS
or Be My Eyes, or is it not worth the bother and better to use the good old
methods of counting blocks and turns and asking people for directions?
