When my husband and I went on a cruise last year, I contacted Verizon to find out what our options were for traveling internationally and what we needed to do about having cell phone access. Like you, I used my phone for GPS information along with keeping track of the itinerary on the ship. I found to be helpful. It wasn’t very expensive. It was something that I could turn on for a limited amount of time and it would turn off automatically. I don’t remember the specifics because it has been a year ago but I found it helpful.
Sorry this was rather vague but I hope it was at least helpful.

Please forgive the typos as this message was most likely generated using voice dictation
