[NAGDU] researching about getting a guide dog

I don't allow anyone to pet my Velvet when she is in harness! She's a social butterfly and I know that such attention would carry into her work.

For Christmas, I was at Charley's side of the family. Velvet would go to her crate if she didn't want to be bothered. I let her stay there because I knew she felt secure. She did enjoy the attention she received and liked playing with the babies and two dogs. I think she was glad to come home as well.

When I was with my stepdaughter riding a four-wheeler, Velvet was so secure that she didn't worry about where she was! It was our first time at the house and normally, I would have kept her on leash because of the new surrounding. However, because she took care of matters on her own, I was ok with people giving her attention and the petting didn't make a difference.

Each dog is different and limitations will vary with each dog. My little Lexie was a trooper. she was given attention but still worked like a charm. She wasn't a social butterfly.

Velvet will be 4 in February and she has definitely matured. She does well no matter where she is! I think she would be concerned if I left her somewhere too long. Smile! Our journey has been a wonderful one and I surely enjoy her morning hugs!A
