Although I am not in the market for a harness at this time, I seem to remember Julie's name and thought she may have sold other dog products.
So as not to crowd the list with such traffic, I would like more information from Julie or someone who has dealt with her about her store and products for future use.

If it is your decision to retire your dog, we support you. If it were only because of some arbitrary age mandate from a training program, I would support your refusal to retire your dog. After all, we whom have worked our dogs and had a close relationship with them for the past nine years have a greater interest and greater insight into our dogs than a training program which likely has not seen the dog over the same nine years!
As for purchasing another harness, Julie Johnson is on this list and likely has just what you need!

My dog is fine to continue working, but I get the feeling strongly that he won't be for long. The old boy is almost starting to slow down, the time is right, I could get another 12 months work out of him, but I don't think that is fair on him. He currently isn't putting a foot wrong, but I know the signs it won't be long befor he starts to skip a beat.
In saying that, I'd be interested in purchasing a different harness for my new dog when it arrives, I have no interest in a leather harness.

Do you feel your dog is ready to retire? If not, one option is to return the harness to them and purchase another harness. If they attempt to repossess your dog, because you are still working it, perhaps we need to have a conversation about this.

My boy turns 11 this coming Thursday. He is still working but I am going to have to get another dog soon. I had a follow up last Thursday night, and it is felt in the next 12 months he will retire.
Yes it is true, they have decided to charge a fee for retired dogs. Being the handler if I took ownership I don't have to pay a fee, so by doing this I've avoided the people who are going to take him being charged anything as I can just hand him straight over.
