[NAGDU] Masks and orientation

That's sort of what I thought, but I'm not too clear on which parts of my face do the echo-location, and I never even thought of head shadow. Jeanine, it must be even worse with a cane. At least the dog keeps me headed straight, even if he is extra sniffy.

Like Susan J, I don't wear the mask if I'm walking around the backstreets of my neighborhood, but the main streets and New York always have the potential of being crowded, so on goes the mask when I head that way.
Thanks guys for confirming it's not just me.
Tracy

Oh Tracy, yes, yes, yes. This doesn’t stop me from wearing one but I definitely feel off with the mask. I think we use much more surface area than just our ears when doing echo location and since masks do change the air flow and shape of your head shadow, I’m guessing that’s what the issue is in part.

I do get used to it after a while but wow, those first few minutes are ugly, especially switching from dog to cane now.
