[NAGDU] Multiple applications

I think it is entirely fair to narrow down programs to two that you really like, possibly even like for different reasons, and apply to both. This is particularly true if your dog retires suddenly, you have a strong breed preference, or you have very specific needs that could take a long time to find a dog. You are more likely to get a matchmuch more quickly when there’s just a larger pool of dogs. I think most conscientious people would both let the programs know that they are applying to other places as well as to let them know when they have excepted a class date at the other school.
Personally, I think applying to three, four, or even five programs is a little excessive. At that point, I feel like people should really evaluate what they are looking for in a program, because you are unlikely to find four or five programs that meet all of your needs/wants. that is also going to be a crazy amount of paperwork, interviews, etc.
I did start filling out applications for two programs with my first dog, though I ended up not finishing the application to one program. I liked the two programs a lot after literally spending years doing research, but I liked them for some of the same reasons and some different reasons. With my second dog, I knew exactly what I wanted so I only applied to the one program. Danielle
