[NAGDU] Leaving

I am very sorry to see good people leaving. I hope that others who are
considering it will consider that, if all the dissenters leave, their
valuable viewpoints will be lost. Really, I hope leadership realizes that,
too. "Diversity" gives room for many perspectives.
But let us also remember to be gentle with each other. If an apology is
offered, is it not respectful to accept it? Respect has to run both ways.
We must be able to discuss issues and disagree respectfully, and not let
egos and personalities take over.
Tracy

'Sorry to see you go, Rox.

I am torn, whether to fight and challenge (which is my nature), or just
to say, 'Screw it,' because these are narrow and timid people, unless
they are wielding powers they believe they have over others.

What I see here are attempts to apply false reasons to their fears and
insecurities that have to be apologized for as they are called out for
their ridiculousness. 'Oh, I was wrong. You weren't acting as a proxy
for someone we dislike. Sorry.' 'Oh, you're right. It wasn't off topic.
Sorry.'

Now, of course, an on-topic webinar reminder is an advertisement and
requires approval by the moderator before it is posted. 'Cooperate or
you'll be put on moderated status.'

Which means, of course, that your posts are going to be censored so they
do not bruise egos, or involve ideas that 'leaders' might not agree with.

Diversity involves being open: to others, to different ideas, to explore
the feelings of others, to debate and consider ideas that are different
from your own. It involves respecting and valuing different ideas and
perspectives. It involves being committed to offering those who differ
the same rights of access and respect that you offer to those with whom
you agree.

There are many valuable things that NAGDU, both past and present,
provides to guide dog handlers. It does, however, disrespect its
mission, its accomplishments, and its value by stifling dissent.
